About Ryan
Ryan Black is a seasoned consultant with a unique blend of legal, operational, and coaching expertise. Drawing from his education in psychology and business, Ryan approaches coaching from a holistic client-centered perspective, meeting each individual exactly where they are on their journey.
Ryan's own career journey began in the interior offices of various AmLaw500 firms across the Northeastern United States and San Francisco Bay Area, where he supported debt finance transactions, mergers & acquisitions, and corporate governance initiatives. Following a five-year stint at Latham & Watkins LLP, Ryan transitioned into the technology sector, building and leading Corporate Governance, Legal Operations, and Chief of Staff functions at hypergrowth companies like Uber, Instacart, Opendoor, and DoorDash.
In addition to providing career and executive coaching, Ryan advises on a broad array of matters, including legal operations and departmental administration, talent development, organizational/industrial design, conflict resolution, change management, and AI prompt engineering for lawyers.
But it's not all work. Ryan also enjoys running, practicing yoga, dabbling in other fitness trends, cooking, baking, and writing. He is a dedicated cat father and a lifelong learner. Currently Ryan is 4 years into his journey learning Spanish (and as a side effect, self-compassion and patience). He's a fan of both Texas Longhorn football and the Oxford comma.
